Brooke Ramel — November 8th, 2008— 8 to 10 pm

Brooke Ramel is a female singer songwriter and guitar player who creates original music. Her entertaining music is a unique style of acoustic pop, and similar to the music of Jewel, Shaw Colvin, Alanis Morissette, and Sarah McLaughlin.

Brooke's music has been influenced by great musicians and performers such as James Taylor, Carly Simon, David Wilcox, The Beatles, Carol King, and the original music, style and songs of artists such as Edith Piaf.

Dave Hubbell of KSTE Radio in Lafayette, LA. provides a great description of Brooke's music and style: "The length and depth of Brooke's devotion to her music is obvious, even to the casual listener. The diversity of her influences is apparent and engaging. Her writing is articulate, her singing is both convincing and emotionally moving, and her musicianship is flawless. Two things you will be sure of after listening to her music. First, she will never imitate herself. Brooke Ramel is an original, all the way to the core. And second, she knows how to rock."

Brooke attended Stanford University and also studied in Paris. After graduating, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her obsession with music. Since then, she has never looked back. Brooke has been making her living as a professional artist performing in coffeehouses, book stores and numerous outdoor locations, as well as venues such as The Coach House, The Galaxy Theatre, The Crazy Horse and Universal City Walk in Southern California and the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas.

Brooke is a tireless performer, averaging 200 plus dates a year for the past four years. She currently has over 4,000+ fans on her monthly mailing list!

Brooke's home base is Southern California, and she has performed at numerous venues throughout the area. She has also performed in London, England, and at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, and in spring 2001 Brooke traveled to the Midwest to perform in local venues and at local schools. In fall of the same year, she returned to the Midwest for another successful tour of the area. In addition to performing solo and headlining with her own band, Brooke has opened for acts such as Shawn Colvin, David Wilcox, Sophie B. Hawkins, Christopher Cross, A Flock of Seagulls, Starship, Sally Taylor, Taylor Dayne, Warren Zevon, Jude, Grant Lee Phillips, Willie Porter, Jill Sobule, Jonatha Brooke, and The Nelsons.

Brooke first four studio albums -- all featuring original material -- received much critical acclaim. Her CD “Be” received a Just Plain Folks Music Award nomination for best pop album of 2002, and two of its songs -- “Someday” and “Only” -- were nominated for best pop song of 2002. Her "LIVE" CD was released in 2003 and features some favorite originals. Brooke is featured in the 8th episode of "Branson Jubilee", which is now running across the nation on PBS. Also, the WB has been using Brooke's song "Someday" on a recent commercial for "The Gilmore Girls". So, if you think you heard her voice, you were right!
