Saturday’s Live at The Cup was a first for us. We have had rain before and never
a drop fell in the atrium. We always stayed dry and toasty with the
heaters. Well, this time there was a lot of wind added to the mix
and the rain blew in. I must say with perfect timing because it started
before the event. So we moved everything inside and had a quaint
and cozy event without any dampened spirits. John Troy kicked off
the evening with his wonderful voice and style. What a funny, funny
man. I found myself chuckling out loud. And when John sang ‘On
the road I’m on”, I found his voice absolutely hypnotic.
We were entertained during the second half of the evening by Wilfax.
Willy and Jeff played acoustic
blues and had a Great sound! They made playing those guitars look
so easy. The sound was amazing and
I can’t wait to hear more.

We had a very
special Saturday night. Michael Shelton preformed
after traveling down with his family on a 5 hour drive. Now this
was very special for a few reasons. Michael was
the 1st entertainer to help us kick off Live
at The Cup when it began. So he is a very
special member of the family. Michael was also celebrating a wonderful
occasion since he and Susie just got married this October, Friday
the 13th. I know, some might think this as strange date to be married
but believe me, it has special meaning to the two and is a lucky
date. We wish them all the happiness life can bring.
Michael sang a new song ‘Alright’ and
we can tell it is going to be a big hit. I can’t wait until
Michael releases another CD. Hope that one is on it. I know he
is a special talent, but as I listened last night I realized
how Michael has developed into an amazing guitarist. He has always
been known for fantastic lyrics, sharing life through his songs
and the music was captivating as he shared his special style
with us. I can’t wait to see him again.

What a great
holiday concert we had on Saturday night. Okay, I couldn’t
stop the silly grin from appearing on my face throughout the entire
evening. It just makes me happy to hear Brooke Ramel sing,
especially all the songs done in French. I felt like I was back
in Paris. Brooke was fantastic and it is always our treat to have
her at The Cup.
Also, congratulations to Brooke on finishing as one of the 5 finalists on Star
Tomorrow. But
as we all know, she doesn’t have to wait for ‘tomorrow’,
Brooke is a Star TODAY! Her Mom and Sister from Kansas were in
the audience. Many friends and family were there in person, as
well as some on the internet during Aidan’s live web broadcast.
In fact Brooke received a request from one of our internet audience
members. How fun is that!
As I looked around I saw everyone
swaying to the music and singing along as we joined in for the
Christmas tunes. The evening ended with a wonderful rendition
of Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Our hands were comfy by the heaters
and our hearts were warmed by Brooke’s magical voice; thank
you Brooke for making the evening so special.

Yes, that wonderful
fall weather is here, but you don’t have to worry about being
anything other than cozy during Live At The Cup.
The atrium is covered and we have heaters to keep you toasty. Just
bring lots of energy and a big smile. You will be plenty warm moving
to the music.
And boy did we have fun this
Saturday during the Thanksgiving weekend. Alec Marken brought
lots of instruments, friends, music and passion to The
Cup Saturday
night. The energy level was up as he gave us a taste of The
Beatles,
a song from Titanic, Folk Rock music and his Irish flair. Alec entertained us with his stories of travels around the world,
but did have one rule…”if you know the song, you
have to sing along, loudly”. And the crowd did. The audience
loves you Alec! I am always discovering something new in Alec’s
original lyrics. We also had a treat when Melissa joined in.
What a great twosome as we enjoyed a taste if Ireland.

Did you ever listen
to music that just made you feel good inside? Well, I did Saturday
night. Surface Crew appeared for the 1st time at
The Cup and it was
a treat for all. What an amazing sound! Brandon and Ross’ songs
transported you to another place. It was as if I was kicking back
at the beach, walking along the boardwalk,
pushing sand with my toes. Not a care in the world. The sounds
were crisp, clean, soulful and smooth. They were a great duo playing
a
variety of tunes. I especially liked their originals. This team
is going places, but we hope not too far from The
Cup. |

Yvonne Perea was
great on Saturday night. I was off at a performance of Riverdance
and unfortunately I had to miss Yvonne this time around. So Steve gave me the scoop and could not have been more enthusiastic about
the evening. Yvonne’s music had a pure and
original style in her guitar playing. Her lyrics were wonderful
and Steve enjoyed when
she threw in some Blues influences. Okay, he got me jealous that
I missed the evening. But it won’t happen again. I can’t
wait for Yvonne to return.

The weather is
changing and Steve is ready for Saturday night with the heaters.
They took just the right amount of chill from the air during Open
Mic Night, which as always is a smashing hit thanks to John
and Kathy. There are so many talented folks and it is
a pleasure to see them performing. Everyone is so brave and it’s
wonderful to see their passion and the audience support. If you
missed it this time around you will want to mark your calendar
to catch it next month, the first Saturday of every month.
Jen Scaffidi entertained
us during Live at The Cup.
Her performance was opened by Jim
Bowers. Jim said he was a little nervous at first but
he was amongst friends. Then Carolyn (on drums)
and Jen raised the energy level. Jen was
a ball of fire, involved the audience in creating her set list
and put a lot of passion in her performance. It was fun to watch
the two entertain with their sense of humor and rapport with
the audience and each other.

The crowd was dancing
Saturday night when Liqdzunshine treated us to some
positive hip hop. They were energetic, creative and just a whole
lot of fun. Their music is contagious so if you missed them, treat
yourself and view an archive of the performance at http://TheNeighborhoodCup.XiCast.com .

It was a wonderful
evening Saturday night with Open Mic Night and Live
at The Cup with Blake
Williams and Paige Aufhammer. Blake opened
and wowed us with his humor and soulful sounds. Okay, since he IS
in California, my visiting niece from Texas will forgive him for
the warning about her state (ha, ha). We will forgive anyone that
sings that well! Paige then captivated us with her refreshing style
and sound. When they describe Paige as naturally gifted, they mean
it. Her voice was magical and we appreciated to opportunity to share
the moment. We thank them both for a magical evening and look forward
to seeing them again.

Nick and
I were out celebrating our anniversary and could not get back in
time to join Tim Moyer in person on Saturday
night. But thanks to Aidan and XiCast,
we were able to tune in on the internet. There was no way we would
miss Live at The Cup.
What a treat. We only wish we could send our applause back through
the internet to Tim. His sound was soulful
as well as energetic, such passion. It was so touching as Tim's
Dad joined him playing the sax. And boy, just how long can Tim hold a note? Wow. Just to name a few of our favorites, 'Clear the
Mist Away', 'Just Me', 'Never Fall'.
Have
you noticed our 'Music Wall of Fame'? Our collection is growing
with the headshots of the Musicians that have performed at The
Cup. Watch our collection grow.

How much fun did
we have Saturday night listening to Dee, Josh and Warren?
It was over the top! Their country music, charm, humor and endless
talents
were fantastic. The crowd didn’t want to let them go to take
a break or to end their session. And when I say ‘crowd’ I
mean CROWD. There were folks from end to end in the atrium and we
were all tapping, clapping and laughing. What a fun night with great
music. Thanks guys. We love ya and can’t wait til another
CD comes out. (I am wearing out this one). If you missed the fun,
check

What a fantastic
evening we had being entertained by Matthew Jordan. As always, Matthew brings a level of energy that is contagious. He was on top of the
world while playing that keyboard like no one we have ever seen.
Matthew has a lot happening and we can’t
wait until his next visit and new CD arrives. We are also keeping
our fingers crossed
since there may be a reality TV show in the future about Matthew.
It is so exciting to see things happening for our friends that come
to perform at The Cup.

What a great night
on Saturday with Marianne Keith entertaining. Has
she got charisma or what? Aidan Owens from XiCast broadcasted
live video over the internet during the evening. It was a party all
the way around. Marianne was at the top of her
game. I know she said the songs were sad, but we couldn’t stop smiling as she sang.
They were soooooo good. And the stories she tells while entertaining
us were a hoot. I just couldn’t stop laughing. The evening
was filled with many friends at The Cup enjoying
each other’s
company. My favorite part was when Marianne played
the keyboard. I know we were all quiet during the performance but
that’s
only because we were mesmerized by Marianne’s talent. If you
missed it in person, don’t worry, Aidan captured the performance.

John & Kathy from NSAI singer/songwriters
packed the house for Open Mic Night last Saturday.
You will want to make a note on your calendar to catch them next
month. This
is a definite item for your ‘To Do’ list, the 1st Saturday
of every month. Not only do you get to hear some fantastic new
entertainers … its just great fun.
After hearing a variety of
good music we were ready for more and were entertained by Shipwreck
Town. The music was mellow, comfortable and a perfect
way to kick back on the Labor Day weekend. Their style took me
back, remembering those high school nights we hung out at the
beach. Bond fires, guitars, singing and just having a good time.
Ahhhh life is good. Who says summer has to end.

It is always such
a pleasure to have Michael Shelton and his family
visiting The Cup. And Saturday night was no different. Michael shared
with everyone more of his amazing instrumental talents, treating
us with different tracks using the loop box. How does he do that?

new dimension of his talents. But don’t take our word on
that; come see Michael next time he appears with us.

On
Saturday August 12th we didn’t have to look up to see a star.
We had our own right at The Cup. Brooke Ramel entertained us with
her amazing talent and certainly sounded like an angel. The place
was packed as always with a fantastic crowd. We sang and laughed
along with Brooke who stayed with us well past 10pm. What a great
night. After listening to Brooke your spirits
are lifted and you’re
ready to search for more shooting stars in the sky. We can’t
wait to have Brooke back again. Until then we look forward to seeing
Brooke on XiCast, Star Tomorrow and Branson
Jubilee.

Chris
Thayer was fantastic in his return visit to The
Cup Saturday night. ENERGY, ENERGY, ENERGY, with a deep and rich
sounding voice, Chris made the magic sounds coming from his guitar
look so easy. We loved all the songs and especially ‘Impossible’.
We couldn’t resist picking up both CDs. Chris had the audience
singing along …..la la la la la la …….Can’t
wait for your return in October Chris. Thanks for the great time.
Aidan

It was quite
a Saturday night at The Cup. LiqdZunshine gave
us a unique treat of positive hip hop. Kalid, Carlos and the entire
group showed us an evening of amazing rhythm and vocals. As we
were drawn into the words, we were hypnotized by their voices and
music. This group is going far and we can’t wait to hear
from them again.
But you don’t have to
wait. If you missed them on Saturday, Aidan Owens from XiCast

Alec Marken had
a big crowd at Swing ‘n’ Java Friday. It is time for
summer fun and that’s definitely what you will have on Friday
nights. So put on your dancing shoes and join the fun.
Dee Briggs and Joshua Rush....brought
acoustic southern rock and a whole lot of Nashville to
The Cup.
This was country at its finest. It was time to stomp
those boots and if you didn’t have boots….just
stomp those feet and clap those hands. Just try to keep
from dancing in your seat, we dare you! We even had a little
two step happening up front. It was a FANTABULOUS night
with a lot of energy, laughs and great music. We loved
the classic lyrics we could all relate to. I laughed so
hard when you sang “I’m an idiot”. We
can’t wait to have Dee and Josh back with us again.
And if you missed them this time around, come early the
next time because they packed the house.

Tim Moyer’s
performance at The Cup was
fantastic Saturday night. It was a truly wonderful family experience
and we can’t wait to have him back

son Shawn on the
Jimbe and his father Lucky on the
sax. We saw first hand why Tim was OCMA's
Best Male Performer in
2002 and IEMA's Best Male Artist in 2005. Look on our website for Tim’s

definitely want to reserve that date on your calendar.

Last Saturday was
our warmest night in a while and Marianne Keith was
on fire as well. It’s always a treat to have Marianne appear
at The Cup and something
I look forward to since I’m usually
humming her songs in my mind. Not to mention I have all her CDs traveling
with me in my car. They are just that good and make you feel happy!
Guess that’s why she named a song "Happy Girl”!
But as I heard around the table on Saturday night….. “She
should be on American Idol. We would definitely vote for Marianne”……….
American Idol, eat your heart out, she’s our idol here at The
Neighborhood Cup. Good luck on tour, Marianne.

I know I always
share with you, my review and experience of Saturday’s Live
at The Cup. What, you ask, did others think of
the entertainment this week? Let me share their reviews of Chris
Thayer...
Chris had a great set of
new and original songs...
He was energetic and funny,
very funny...
He sings about down-to-earth
things that we can all relate to. Chris is REAL...
We loved the mix of funny
and sentimental music...
Now that’s quite a
review from the young to the more seasoned listener. We also
want to congratulate Chris on being the proud father of a 2-month
old girl, name Phoebe. Congrats Chris!

Now
I know. When they coined the phrase “live in the moment” they
had Kelly
Fitzgerald in mind. After completing a full, intense week
of work, I arrived at The Cup,
sat down to enjoy the music with my Cinnabon Latte. Life is good,
soon to be even better. I was immersed
and living in the moment Kelly created with her
songs. Kelly had
such energy and amazing voice, everything else ceased to exist.
We were living in the moment. I did snap myself out of it only
to notice
it was not just me enjoying the evening. I turned my head to the
right and noticed a line of people with legs swaying and feet tapping
to the beat. No, it was not a scene from Foot Loose but it certainly
could have been, and gave me a chuckle. It was a wonderful warm
night with a cool breeze, just right. Kelly provided
us a relaxed place to kick of our shoes and take it all in. In
fact, that’s how Kelly entertained, barefooted.
That must be the secret! She is channeling the earth’s energy
into every single song. She gave us an amazing moment that was
worth waiting for and I am rejuvenated for the next
week. Thanks, Kelly! |

Another wonderfully
crazy Saturday night during Live
At The Cup! Kerry Getz was
in rare form as she drank her 'Lavender Latte' and shared stories
with the crowd. We were so happy to have Kerry back
again. Having her at The Cup is
like having family home to entertain you; so comfortable and Kerry made
it such a personal performance.
We had a surprise when Rich came up from the audience to accompany Kelly with his harmonica.
Way to go Rich! What a range of styles Kerry had for us. One
moment we were gett’n down and the next we were carried
away to a mellower place. And then when I am caught up in the
music and most vulnerable, the moment was there, my personal
favorite…….’Inhale’. She did it again
and with that song had us melting like butter. We love you, Kerry.
(Webmaster's note: I had an
opportunity to catch Kerry's show and Diane expressed it perfectly.
What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday evening. Great entertainment,
friends, food, and drinks! Thank you Kerry, Steve, Jen, and Diane.

What a fabulous
Saturday night! A Big thank you to John and Kathy from NSAI for
hosting our Open Mic Night. It is always great
to see the yet undiscovered talent and provide a forum to develop
their acts. They are amazing talents with nerves of steel. I know
I couldn’t do it! Don’t miss the next Open
Mic Night on July 1st.
What can I say about Marianne
Keith and the CD Release Party! WOW! What a blast.
Marianne was amazing with her back up singers
and band. It was a true family affair. The house was packed
with family
and friends, about 100 or so. It was a beautiful summer night
with music, food, and lots of smiles and energy. Marianne and
her team sounded sharp and on top of the world; right where
they belong. They exploded with energy and it was contagious.
I added another of Marianne’s CDs to
my collection which I am sure will continue to grow as I follow
her career. This
is just the beginning and we are all so proud and excited to
welcome her back home to The Cup each time she returns.

We had a great time
hearing Alec Marken perform on Saturday. As always,
Alec was filled with lots of energy. Mixed in with his original songs,
the audience called out requests throughout the evening. And what
a great crowd it was as they sang along with the tunes. Our Neighborhood
Cup families have great voices and Alec encourages the interaction.
It was fun to hear how the use of technology brings out exciting
twists on the sounds of Alec’s guitar.

It was quite a Saturday
night with Matthew Jordan in the house. This was
Matthew’s 3rd time at The
Cup and he just keeps getting better.
That’s hard to believe after you watch him play that keyboard.
I never saw anyone move their fingers so fast and hit every note
with perfection. He is amazing! He filled the place with personality,
energetic vocals, great lyrics and all around fantastic music.
The audience started out small but as soon as he began to play,
the crowd
was drawn in to stay. We were fortunate to get a sneak preview
of some of Matthew’s new songs. He will be coming out with a new
CD soon, so stay tuned. We can’t wait to have him back. So
for anyone who missed out this time, check our calendar for Matthew's return.
We can’t wait!

Saturday night was packed with
activity. We started the evening with a big crowd since the Geo
Chasers were in the house. This is the activity of treasure
hunting where you use a GPS to hide and seek treasures with other
participants. What an exciting group of folks.
Then we flowed right into Live
At The Cup starring Michael Shelton. It
was great to have Michael back with us. It is always a treat to
hear Michael’s original songs. It’s like poetry put
to music. It is fascinating to watch him entertain; watching the
dance between his music and guitar. Michael has a unique style
that captures the audience at every appearance.

What can we say
about Saturday's Live at The Cup with Seth
Horan?
Our anticipation did not go unrewarded. This was Seth’s 4th
appearance and he is pure magic. I still don’t know how he
creates those sounds with that bass guitar. But who cares? We are
mesmerized as he delivers each song. I now have ‘Conduit’ playing
in my mind, which is okay since I’m crazy about his music.
Seth just came back from Germany
where he was a big hit, of course. We missed you Seth and welcome
you back. As always, there was standing room only as we experienced
an amazing night of music with his intense personality flooding
the space. Seth also shared with us the good news of his engagement.
Congratulations!

I
always enjoy writing to you and sharing Saturday night’s
entertainment experience. I am not too sure what to tell you about
our session with Jenn
Grinels last night. Other than Grrrreat! We are always
so lucky to have her appear at the Cup. The performance was so
amazing
it’s hard to describe. It’s something you had to experience. Jenn’s passion and intense vocals flowed so easily… So
smooooooth. Her lyrics touch you deep inside. It was like inviting Jenn into your home, singing straight to your heart. For those that
came late, Jenn gave an impromptu performance sitting around the
coffeehouse.

Our 1st Open Mic Night was
fantastic! We had a crowd of about 50 who were able to enjoy 2
full hours of performances. This new event was such an amazing
success we will be incorporating it as a regular event at The
Cup.
Beginning May 6th , the 1st Saturday of every month will be Open
Mic Night, hosted by NSAI singer/songwriters. Sign-ups start at
4:30 pm on those nights, so come early for this very popular new
event.
Saturday was the 2nd appearance
at The Cup for the John Ogden Band. It was great
to see their evolution and growth since their 1st visit. Watch
out, this band is going places. It’s wonderful to see things
happening for them and we are glad to share in their excitement.
Opening for the band were two special guests, Matt Bianci and Anesha
Rose. This was Matt’s debut performance showcasing
his clear and subtle style. Anesha blew off the roof with her vocals
and excitement. It was a wonderful night filled with marvelous
performers.

Michael
Shelton was sick and unable to perform on Saturday.
We missed him and hope he gets well soon. Take care of yourself
Michael and hurry back!
Amber Rubarth was
so nice to have filled in and she was pure charm. Amber is about
to depart for the east coast appearing in Boston on the 17th
and then off to New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire and back
to New York, Whew! So glad we were able to see her before she
left. Amber had some exciting news as she is having a custom
guitar made especially for her from the UK. Congrats!
What a night we had tapping
our feet, snapping our fingers (Sid and Steve snapped for 3 full
minutes!) and singing along. It seemed like every song was turning
out to be my favorite, ‘Amazing’, ‘You Will
Love This Song’, ‘Drifting’, ‘Easy To
Think’. If you close your eyes and listen to ‘Underground
Angel’ you are taken back to being a kid again on a merry-go-round,
carefree, with no worries. And then to make it even tougher to
decide Amber threw in an instrumental on the keyboard that was
so beautiful it blew me away. Thank you Amber, for an unforgettable
evening.

Saturday night was
truly remarkable with Chris Thayer. What can we
say to describe Chris during his visit at The
Cup? Well, how about
Incredible, Delightful, Enthusiastic, Energetic, Unique and Talented.
And we’re just getting started! The crowd was so very able
to relate to Chris’ lyrics as he gave us
a mix of sincerity and humor. His personality is unassuming, letting
us know he is just
there to have a good time, and we did. Even though Chris was feeling
a bit under the weather he said he could not resist appearing at
The Cup. We are very glad he did and look forward to many more appearances.
By the way, we want to send special congratulations to Chris who
is expecting the arrival of a new baby in about a month.

I couldn’t
wait to share the great time we had last
night at The Cup. Matt Cook performed and helped
us celebrate The Cup’s 10 month anniversary. Matt was joined
by his band The Heardsmen with bassist Rob
Williams and drummer Gus Pannarale. We
had an additional treat when Matt’s sister Nicole joined
in on the flute and vocals. It was a true family affair with Mom
in the audience.
Matt has a voice that makes
you listen with a deep and soulful sound. His sense of humor
had us smiling all night while he had the audience participate
with verse and yes, we were clapping to the beat. It was an amazing
night with great music and Matt just happened to cue in the fog
to set the mood during the end of his set. Now that’s commanding
a performance!

Alec Marken & Deep
Stirrings gave us a great Saturday night of entertainment.
It was a wonderful way to end our St. Patrick’s Day week
and extended that special feeling. Alec had an Irish flair that
certainly put a spring in your step. As he told stories of his
songs there was a comfortable rapport with the audience. Alec shares
his rich experiences of Ireland and puts a sparkle in your eye.

We had a blast
Saturday night being entertained by Kelly Fitzgerald.
It was her 2nd time at The Cup. Okay, I admit it; you couldn’t
wipe the silly grin off my face or stop my foot from tapping. It
may have been one cold night, but sitting there with the heaters,
friends and great music just made me smile. And Kelly’s warm
and energetic personality was the topper. She is a fantastic song
writer with a voice to match. We know others will be singing her
songs but I don’t know that they will do them justice.
Kelly is an amazing talent
and we are lucky to have her appear at The
Cup. And just when
you thought it couldn’t get any better, we had an extra
treat as Yvonne Perea joined in for a few songs.
What a team! The evening was too short. But as our sing along
went…..it “Just Takes Time”…… Thank
you Kelly and Yvonne, we look forward to next time.

What a fabulous
Saturday night at The Cup!
We had three entertainers that were amazing. This was Amber
Rubarth’s 2nd time at The Cup and
she continues to entertain us with total charm, warmth and sounds
of comfort. One of our favorite songs is ‘Underground Angel’. Amber has
a wonderfully delicate touch on the guitar that you just have to
experience. We can’t wait for her next visit.
Joining the fun was Joel Ackerson. And I do mean FUN.
Joel had a great sense of humor that kept us laughing through the evening,
not to mention his story telling through song. Who could resist those soothing
vocals? He sounded so great you could never tell Joel and Tony had just
played 16 performances in 16 days. They will be on the road for appearances
in Austin, Texas in a couple of weeks. Tony Cataldo entertained
us with amazing trumpet and bass solos. Our attention couldn’t
help but gravitate to Tony’s musical talent and
intensity through the evening. They were all wonderful.

I
can’t stop
thinking about Saturday night’s Live
at The Cup with Matthew
Jordan. This was Matthew’s 2nd
time at the Cup. We had visitors as far away as Temecula joining
in the
fun. His music
infuses you with joy and just makes you smile. Matthew is
an amazing, energetic talent on the keyboard. He shared his rendition
of ‘Way
Over Yonder’ that was fantastic. We were lucky to hear the
debut of Matthew’s new song ‘Passengers’. He has
wonderful compositions that marry his music to his lyrics. We can’t
wait for Matthew to have his new CD out when he returns again. You
definitely want to pay attention to his career because we know others
will be singing Matthew’s tunes in the future.

A
little rain but it didn’t dampen the spirits at The
Cup. It went beyond ‘standing
room only’ Saturday night during Live
at The Cup. So many people
came to support and listen to Translucent for
their 1st big performance. The group was just formed in October
and we
were excited to have them at the coffeehouse as they begin their
journey. Good music, good company and lots of fun. It’s great
to see the support every shows for the artists that visit us each
week.

How
was Saturday night you ask? FANTASTIC! We couldn’t have asked
for better weather or entertainment. It was so much fun spending
time with Marianne
Keith as she shared with us 3 generations of her family.
This was Marianne’s 4th time at The
Cup. She is a fantastic
talent that is truly going places. Saturday was a night of Fun, Family
and packed with Personality. Marianne entertained with music, wit,
humor and spunky conversation. Joining in harmony were Ashley and
Marianne’s sister Nicole. Mom and Dad (Nancy and Paul) organize CDs and sound equipment. And it was great visiting
with Marianne’s grandparents, Ruth and Bob who came in from
Montana. Marianne finished her new record. You’ll want to keep
an eye out for ‘Beautiful Distraction’ which should be
coming out in March. You’ll definitely want to pick up a
CD on Marianne’s next visit. |

Saturday’s Live
at The Cup was quite a taste
of the East Coast. We had not only one performer but three,
all originally from New York or New Jersey. This was Jeff
Taylor’s last performance before going back
to New York. He had a definite dramatic flair to his performance
that we all enjoyed.
Amber Rubarth entertained
us not only with the guitar but keyboard as well, with story
telling put to music. It was a comfortable feeling like skipping
stones across a lake.
Matt Cook was
our surprise guest of the evening playing both guitar and keyboard.
His sounds were hypnotic and peaceful. So easy to listen to.
Amber will be returning to The Cup on March 4th and Matt is returning
on March 25th.So don’t miss them.

Saturday night was fantastic
and just what I needed; an Almond Rocha Mocha and the sounds of Michael
Shelton. What more could a soul want? Each song was a
story set to music, the guitar a part of his soul and he made it
sing. Michael has a unique swagger as he takes his guitar for a
walk around the floor to entertain us. It’s unmistakable.
If you missed Michael last night
you’ll want to catch him on his next visit to The
Cup. Michael introduced us to his special guest Mischa Hedges who
began playing guitar at age 13, and started writing his own material
at age 15. It was a night of fantastic guitar playing with a range
of soft to powerful sounds. Amazing!

Saturday night was
filled with musical intensity. Seth Horan was
incredible with his vocal talent, humor and a style all his own.
We just can’t figure out just how he creates that fantastic
sound on that bass guitar. We watched in awe as he created his magic
and we couldn’t believe what we saw and heard, amazing. As
always, people travel from far to hear Seth. We
even ran out of chairs – Way
to go Seth! But that didn’t matter. We couldn’t sit still
anyway, being too busy laughing and moving to the music. The crowd
was having so much fun they wouldn’t even let Seth take a break.
Can you blame them?

It truly was a fun
adventure with Alec Marken last Saturday. It was
a perfect night. No rain and the heaters kept everyone warm. By the
way, there are three heaters now to keep us all warm. Not to mention
the 40-50 friends that packed the house. Alec was great along with Kenney and Tom.
They were joined by guest singer, Melissa, with
her Irish flair. As always Alec sparked the night with lots of energy.
For those who missed it, keep an eye on the calendar to catch Alec when he returns. |

It was great
to start off this year’s entertainment with Jenn
Grinels. It is always a treat to hear Jenn’s sounds
of perfection. Unfortunately Jenn was under the weather but you
could never tell. Being the professional, she came to entertain
and that she did, to a full house. She was spectacular and as usual
we were lost in her sounds. What POWER!
Julie Sadoian came to Jenn’s
rescue as the evening’s emergency musician.
We were treated to Julie’s
soft and mellow tunes. Thank you, Julie,
for helping us out and giving us an unexpected treat.
